A Healer's Life

Sharon J (Roeske) (Wendt) Wesch was born on August 18, 1942, in Valparaiso, IN. She passed on February 13, 2024 at home in Cornville, surrounded by her husband and family. She was preceded by her twin sister Karon, her brother Gordon, and her parents. She is survived by her husband Jerry Wesch PhD, her children John Wendtand Renee Nerney, niece Lisa Gelon, and Jerry’s daughters Jessica, Stephanie, and Katherine. She has 16 grandchildren.

She was an identical twin with sister, Karon. They were born into a large extended farm family and lived near Hebron, IN. Sharon (Sher) was a typical farm girl in many ways (4-H Club, driving tractors, cooking, cleaning, and general farming chores). She and Karon began baton lessons at 7 years old and this skill shaped a lot of her younger years. The twins practiced in the front yard of the farmhouse, to the entertainment of passersby. They were academic stars and featured twirlers in high school and caught the attention of the Purdue University Band Director who offered them full scholarships, fronting the Purdue Marching Band as the “Silver Twins” for 4 years.

She married John Wendt after college and lived in Crown Point, IN. She taught Math in middle school for 5 years. She had her two children during that time, son John and daughter Renee. After her Father died, she went into grief counseling and fell in love with the process. She entered Fielding University, earning a PhD in Clinical Psychology. After she divorced, she opened a Holistic Clinic in Northern Indiana that grew to have a staff of 17, including Physicians, Psychotherapists, Massage Therapists, Nutritionists, and Reiki Practitioners. After a spectacular healing that combined Psychotherapy and Energy healing, she began the search for how to develop the process further. This led her to start her life’s work in what she called “Radiant Heart Healing”.

After she divorced, she opened a Holistic Clinic in Northern Indiana that grew to have a staff of 17, including Physicians, Psychotherapists, Massage Therapists, Nutritionists, and Reiki Practitioners. After a spectacular healing that combined Psychotherapy and Energy healing, she began the search for how to develop the process further. This led her to start her life’s work in what she called “Radiant Heart Healing”.

Radiant Heart developed into a national and international phenomenon. Over the next40+ years, she trained thousands of therapists and individuals all over the US and in Europe. She has treated uncounted patients with her combined skills in counseling and spiritual energy healing. She eventually described the process as “psychologically informed Spiritual Healing”, focusing on healing grief and perinatal trauma. She has written 4 acclaimed books and presented at many conferences, nationally and internationally. In later years, she focused on healing grief in families after a baby died. Her final book described a process she called “Birthing Radiant Babies”, which prevents perinatal wounding and creates profound bonding between parents and their baby.

She married again in 2006 at age 65 to Jerry Wesch, PhD, after 30+ years of friendship and collaboration in the holistic healing movement. They lived and practiced in Chicago and then Jerry found a job as a GS employee at Fort Hood, Texas. She built a practice working with the wives of the soldiers in Jerry’s PTSD clinic. After Jerry retired in 2015,he asked Sher where she wanted to move next, and she enthusiastically said “SEDONA!” Sher has worked for Sedona Soul Adventures, doing very satisfying spiritual healing work. She also trained Radiant Heart practitioners, and continuing her Conference presentation travels.

She was the subject of a documentary film titled “A Healer’s Life”, available to view below on this memorial page. A memorial gathering is planned for March 24th in the community center of the neighborhood where she and Jerry lived. Sher's physical self was donated to the University Arizona Medical School.
Donations may be sent to the NAH Hospice in Cottonwood who provided her final care.
